“I couldn’t recommend Suzi enough. She made the whole experience so relaxed and fun, and beautifully captured every inch of my 10 month old’s personality. - Stephanie”

Please find some answers to frequently asked questions below, and feel free to get in touch with Suzi directly with any queries about your photoshoot.

When should I book?

These shoots can be done any time up to 4 months old, however to achieve the curled up, sleepy poses it’s ideal for your baby to be photographed between 4-14 days old. As I only take on a limited number of bookings each month it’s important to book as early as possible – ideally after your 20 week scan.

Baby & Family:

If you’d like a weekend date, these usually booked up around 2 months in advance. Please email me and we can find a suitable date for us both.

I would recommend having your shoot when you're around 28-34 weeks pregnant, and booking in advance to ensure availability.

To book, please get in touch via the Contact page – I look forward to hearing from you!

How long does the session take?

Newborn sessions take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours, and sometimes slightly longer. The timings of the shoot are completely run by your baby - I will not rush them as it’s important that they feel safe, happy and comfortable at all times. It is normal for newborns to take some time to settle, and extra time is allowed for within the shoot for feeding, changing and cuddles!

Baby & Family:

These shoots last 30 to 60 minutes depending on the age of your children. This is the perfect amount of time to capture them at their best, without them getting too tired. The sessions are really relaxed and I ensure to capture a wide range of photographs during that time.

Can we include siblings and parents?

It’s easy for parents to hide behind the camera, however in years to come your children will ask why you’re not in any of their images. I encourage all parents and siblings to get involved in your photography session, even if it is just your hands around your baby.

What do we wear?

You can wear anything you like and the most important thing is for you to feel comfortable. I'm a big fan of neutrals. Anything white, grey or pastel with no big prints or logos will look gorgeous. This will help to create a really lovely light, airy feel within your images.

Where do shoots take place?

Newborn & Sitter:

All newborn & baby shoots take place at my natural light studio in Clevedon, BS21 6TD. There is a comfortable sofa area where you can settle in, relax and enjoy watching your little one’s first photoshoot. During the shoot, I will use natural lighting and baby-led posing to compliment every aspect of your newborn. I focus on capturing all of those gorgeous little details, such as tiny toes, delicate hair, gorgeous pouts and perfect flakes of skin.

Family & Maternity:

Your shoot can take place either in the studio, or on location. Studio shoots taken place in the morning whereas location shoots are best done a couple of hours before sunset, to capture that gorgeous golden hour light.

Do you have any outfits we can borrow?

I have a range of beautiful outfits for babies age 6-18 months that you're welcome to borrow during your shoot. I recommend bringing along a few options of your own too.

I also have a range of maternity dresses available to use.

What should I bring?

There are a few things that it would be helpful if you could bring to your shoot. Firstly, if there are any outfits or objects (e.g wooden letters, teddies etc) that you’d like your newborn photographed with, please bring them along. If you have any colour preferences for the shoot, please mention these to me at least 2 weeks before your due date.

On the more practical side of things, please bring a couple more nappies than usual and a pack of baby wipes. It’s also helpful to bring a dummy if you have one, even if your baby hasn’t used it yet – they’re a great help during shoots! The aim of the shoot is to get your baby to be as sleepy and relaxed as possible. Therefore, please hold off on feeding until either just before you come, or when you get here (whichever you feel most comfortable with). If you’re bottle feeding then please bring some extra milk as a top up during the shoot for soothing purposes. If you’re breast feeding, just bring yourself!!

I have lots of toys at the studio to entertain little ones, but I recommend bringing a few that your child finds really funny so we can create some beautiful giggles! Please also bring some snacks (for melt-down emergencies!), nappy changes and some clothing options.
